CHRISTMAS CLOSURES
Kingsway will be closed on the 25th December 2025, 26th December 2025 and 1st January 2026. If you require medical assistance during these times, please telephone NHS 111. For any other closures over the festive season, please visit our website or social media platforms to stay updated.
WINTER ILLNESSES AND ANTIBIOTICS
GPs do not recommend antibiotics for colds and flus because they will not relieve symptoms or speed up your recovery. This is because antibiotics only work and are effective against bacterial infections, whereas colds and flus are caused by viruses.
Your local Pharmacy will be able to treat and recommend products for colds, coughs and sore throats.
Colds flus can last between 7-14 days, which symptoms improving after 10 days. If a cough persists for longer than 3 weeks, it may be advisable to seek medical advice.
If you find yourself suffering from a cold or flu, ensure you get plenty of rest and stay hydrated. For symptom relief, use over the counter cold and flu medicines or speak to a pharmacist about which to buy if you are unsure.
If symptoms don’t improve, get worse or you experience a high fever, please seek medical advice.
