COMMUNITY PHARMACY CONSULTATION SERVICE
The NHS Community Pharmacist Consultation Service (NHS CPCS) is a new service with the aim of helping patients to receive rapid treatment from the most appropriate healthcare professional, such as your local NHS community pharmacist.
Pharmacists are highly skilled clinicians, extensively trained and experience in treating common illnesses. They will be able to provide a same day consultation so there will be no need to wait for weeks to see a doctor. Pharmacists are able to offer the best clinical advice and suggest over the counter treatments for a variety of ailments.
You many have already experienced this service at the surgery, as Pharmacists can treat a wide range of acute and common conditions. These include, but are not limited to Coughs and Colds, Digestive Issues, Hayfever and Skin Issues. With colder months on the way, we would kindly ask patients to consider a CPCS referral from the surgery if offered at the time of contacting us for an appointment.
MEDICATION REVIEW FORMS
Patients on consistent medication are asked to complete a medication review form annually by the surgery, in order for us to manage individual treatment. This could potentially include consultations, changes to doses or trying alternative medicines. We would like to remind patients that these forms are not suitable for airing any issues regarding the surgery outside of medications and that there is a separate process for this.
If you feel you are experiencing side effects from your medication, please arrange to speak to a clinician and do not wait until you are asked to complete a medication review form.
THIRD PARTY CONSENT
We would like to remind patients that if you would like a specific person or persons to discuss your medical information on your behalf, we require the completion of a Third Party Consent form. Information will not be shared with any persons of your choosing unless this is in place, or if you are with them and able to provide consent verbally in that one instance.
You are also able to withdraw consent at any time once it has been given. To do this, you would need to contact the surgery and advise you no longer wished for the individual to discuss your medical information on your behalf.
The above applies to any patient aged 16 and over.
FLU VACCINATIONS 2023
If you have received a text message to book your flu vaccination, but have not yet done so, please contact the surgery. Children ages 2-3 are eligible for the nasal flu injection, if you have received a text message in this regard but have not yet arranged an appointment, again please contact the surgery.
